(39) D'Qwell Jackson, ILB. Maryland

-------------------------------------------------------------------
The Tennessee Titans have been decaying slowly and surely for the past three seasons. Eddie George ran out of gas, Steve McNair has been unable to remain healthy, and and Derrick Mason has departed. Defensively, Samari Rolle was lost as a cap casualty. The team went from competing for the division to where it is now: competing for the #1 draft choice in the 2007 draft. While Billy Volek has looked very good when he has seen the field in Steve McNair's absence, a franchise arm would make a ton of sense for the Titans. Volek is simply not a QB you would want to build a franchise around. With the loss of pro bowl tackle, Brad Hopkins, finding a book end for the offensive line would be desirable. Defensively, a man in the middle would round out the linebacking corp.

Offensive Coordinator, Norm Chow, would love to
devise a system for Vince Young

(3) Matt Leinart, QB. USC
Steve McNair has been gold for the Titan's franchise. He led them to winning season after winning season during the prime of his career in the late 90s through 2002. Since, his hard-nosed sytle of play has come to bite him as he has been injured often. Enter Vince Young: the man Steve McNair has had under his wings for years no. No quarterback in this year's draft class has a higher ceiling than Vince Young, and no offensive coordinator is more adept at building an offensive system to his personnel than Norm Chow. After all, Chow turned his BYU team from a Steve Young oriented juggernaut to a Ty Detmer air-happy machine in just one year's time. To boot, Vince Young is a gamer and a winner. As a national champion, winning is all he knows.

(39) D'Qwell Jackson, ILB. Maryland
At 6'0"/230, D'Qwell Jackson is undersized. His 4.70 speed is below average for a middle linebacker. However, his on the field production at Maryland makes you take notice to his game. He is incredibly instinctive, making plays that only few players can. He exhibits much more range than his 40-yard dash time would suggest. He is as sure-handed a tackler as there was in college football this year. His intangibles are off the charts. He is a smart player who acts as an extra coach on the field. Brad Kassell is gone at ILB for the Titans. D'QWell Jackson could step in tomorrow and make a solid NFL player. He is game-ready.

Leinart, an NFL-ready QB, may be needed

(*) Matt Leinart, QB. USC
Steve McNair and hs status with the Titans needs to be monitored. If he and the Titans sever ties completely, then Matt Leinart is going to be their guy. Leinart is the most NFL-ready quarterback in the draft, and the Norm Chow system would allow him to become comfortbale in a hurry. Chow and Leinart had Heisman-style successes at USC, and all signs point to Leinart being a success in the NFL as well. The guyjust wins games. If McNair remains the Titans' quarterback, expect Young to be the pick. Leinart falling off the board at #3 adjusts everything in the entire mock draft. The texture of all three rounds changes. Again, keep a close eye on McNair.
