Seattle Seahawks Forecast

Seattle Seahawks (13-3)
-------------------------------------------------------------------
(31) Tamba Hali, DE. Penn State
(63) Danieal Manning, DB. Albeliene Christian
-------------------------------------------------------------------
Seattle was a huge surprise last year. Having been labeled as an inconsistent team recently, no one expected them to either be the #1 seed in the playoffs or make the Super Bowl. Most of the team needs exist on the defensive side of the ball. Yes, the Seahawks did lead the NFL in sacks last year, but they still could use a pass rusher fro the edge. Bryce Fisher leaves a lot to be desired, and all signs are pointing to a pass rusher being the team's #1 selection. The secondary could also use added depth. Andre Dyson is no longer lined up at coenerback, and Ken Hamlin's health is a question mark. Finding a corner or a safety would make a lot of sense. Offensively, the loff of Steve Hutchinson will be felt. If value presents itself early, the Seahawks may go that route. Otherwise, expect a versatile interior lineman to be drafted on day two.
(31) Tamba Hali, DE. Penn State
The Seahawks had the top pass rush in the league last year, and they would like to keep it that way. It was no secret that John Abraham was on their wish list this off-season. Unwilling to give upi their first-rounf pick, the Seahawks will be forced to find an upgrade for Bryce Fisher on the outside through the draft. Tamba Hali has seen his draft stock slide recently. His 4.86 timed speed has teams really worrying about his ability to rush the passer and pursue the ball carrier. It seems that some scouts have forgotten just how productive Hali was in college. He was purely dominant this past season for the Nitney Lions. The Seahawks would be more than willing to have a chance at Hali. He would be the ideal option for their line. His game is polished and he is simply a big (6'3"/275), fast end to help their defensive line.
(63) Danieal Manning, DB. Albeliene Christian
Needing depth at the very least in the defensive backfield, the Seahawks will find a gem of a talent in Danieal Manning. Suffering from small school syndrome, Manning has big-time abilities. His 5'11"/202 size is excellent. His 4.46 speed is very good, especially considering he has played the bulk of his time at safety. Manning also has fluid hips, giving him the ability to play man coverage and line up on the outside. This versatility makes him particularly desireable to a team like Seattle. Having sacrificed their third round pick to acquire Nate Burleson from the Vikings, the Hawks are short one first day pick. In Manning they can fill both depth needs in the secondary with one guy. A top sleeper candidate in the entire draft, Danieal Manning has the potential to be great.
(31) Kelly Jennings, CB. Miami
It is a well established fact that Miami University defenders have had success in the NFL. Ray Lewis, Ed Reed, and Jonathan Vilma are only a few of the names out there. Having a need in the secondary, the Giants will likely be better served grabbing their guy in round one before the top cover corners are off the board in round two. Kelly Jennings is incredibly athletic. His 4.39 speed is elite, and his 5'11" height is competently good. He is incredibly fluid in man coverage with a knack for landing the interception. Fearing value being gone in the next round and needing a defensive back, Kelly Jennings is a possible selection for the Seahawks.
